Reel-Safe Hydraulic System
Background
The Reel-Safe system is a simplification and improvement to the widely accepted Hyden KIS system.
Advantages
Improved diagnostics
To simplify diagnostics, independent manifolds control each key function and these incorporate ‘diagnostic’ visual indicators and colour coded valves with fixed settings.
Simplified Hosing
All functions are in parallel with a single pressure line and single return line. This simple system allows the addition or removal of functions without affecting the remaining system.
Fail-Safe Automatic Braking System
The automatic braking system is applied if a single pilot line senses any of the following:
Ø
Reservoir oil level drops below the suction port of the brake coolant pump.
Ø
Brake coolant pump fails to provide adequate flow.
Ø
Return line filter element requires replacement.
Ø
Power fill valve is not in the operational position.
Ø
Main system pressure is below 90-bar.
Ø
Floor jacks are not fully retracted.
Ø
Cable reel pressure is below 30-bar.
Ø
Driver compartment door is open.
Ø
Power to the electric motor is cut.
Cable-Safe System
Failure of the trailing cable from over-wrapping or from the formation of the loops is inhibited by a high reel-in tension provided by the Cable-Safe valve. To minimize the inertia effects on the cable, this valve also reduces cable reel pressure when brakes are applied.
